I know, I know, it's been a while since I've written. My millions of fans are dying of anticipation and suspense and so I've decided to put you all out of your misery with another update on my extraordinary ordinary life...
Tomorrow my plane leaves to take me back home to the States to visit for a few weeks. I CANNOT WAIT. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Oxford and am finding it so easy to be at home here, but I just can't help but miss good ol' Freedom, PA. My family, my friends, my couch, my mom's cooking, my car, Panera Bread, free drink refills - you name it. I'm finding you can travel all over the world and it is amazing but there really is no place like home (you go, Dorthy.) Since I've been gone I missed the birth of my new nephew and I am sooo looking forward to meeting Wyatt for the first time. I already love him and he already knows Aunt Shannon is just the coolest ever. (Or so I will tell him.) Anywho.. I guess I should update on life here since my last post.
Thanksgiving came and went! It was strange to be away from my family at that time but the day did not go uncelebrated here in Oxford. My friend Marisa, planner that she is, organized a Thanksgiving dinner for 30 of our friends. Many were American and missing out on their own dinners back at home as well and many were not but our new international friends were eager to join in on the tradition. We had a big turkey and ham, everyone brought a side dish or appetizer, and we even got American football projected on the big screen. Scoooore. It ended up being an awesome day and I couldn't be happier.
Other than that, it was a lot of school school school. Classes came to an end last week and I had a lot of final projects and such to finish up. It was a nice reminder that I am here for a degree after all, not just country hopping and living it up (although I do plan on doing a lot more country hopping and living it up.. muahaha.) And so somehow my first semester has come to an end. When I leave the states to come back for my second semester, I won't be home again for 7 months. That's a looong time for me (my nephews will be, like, teenagers by then *wah*) but I will have school and incredible traveling to keep me busy!
So, I'm sorry that this post was super boring but, hey, I am a student after all! I promise my next one will be better because when I get back from break I'll be taking a two week long backpacking trip through SCANDINAVIA! (hello, northern lights, woot woot!) It's going to be a crazy and life changing trip and I'll be sure to keep you all posted when I return.
See ya next time,
xo, Just Wandering
